The uncomfortable truth

You don't own
your community.

Every post, every member, every video you uploaded - it all sits on someone else's server, under someone else's terms. That's fine until the day it isn't.

01

Ban & lockout

One terms-of-service flag, one billing hiccup, one wrong move - and you're locked out of years of work overnight, with no way back in.

02

Price hikes

The platform sets the rent. When the subscription jumps, your content is the hostage - and "just leave" means abandoning everything you built.

03

Communities vanish

Creators burn out, pivot, or shut down. When a community you paid for closes - or you leave it - every lesson you learned from disappears with it.

Reality check Skool has no native full backup. Posts, threads, classroom, attachments - zero export. Officially, your only "backup" plan is screenshotting it all by hand, post by post. That's not a plan. That's a hostage situation.

The whole community. Not just clips.

One click. A complete, offline archive.

Community Backup pulls down the entire community and rebuilds it inside a native macOS reader - browse it like the real thing, with every file on your own drive.

One-click full backup

Point it at a community and it archives everything - feed posts, threads, classroom, images, attachments. No cherry-picking, no manual saving.

Native offline reader

Not a folder of loose files - a real macOS app that rebuilds the community so you can browse courses and posts offline, forever. Even after you leave.

Videos at 1080p

Course and lesson videos downloaded as real files - including YouTube embeds at 1080p. Not streaming links that die when the source does.

New in v1.8

Export to Obsidian

Turn any lesson into clean Markdown with YAML frontmatter, attachments included - straight into your Obsidian vault or any second brain.

Auto-refresh

New lessons get picked up automatically on the next refresh, and freshly-joined communities are pinned on top with a NEW badge - nothing slips past.

Runs on a schedule

Set it daily or weekly and forget it - the app wakes up on its own, pulls whatever is new and reports back. Per-community, so you pick which ones run unattended.

Verify & repair

Checks that every downloaded video actually plays, then re-fetches the broken ones. A half-finished archive is not an archive.

New in v1.9

Knows when you lose access

Membership lapsed, banned, or you left? The app sees the classroom is gone instead of quietly downloading nothing - it flags the community, stops the run and leaves your existing archive untouched.

Attachments & docs

PDFs, worksheets and downloads pulled in next to the lessons they belong to - localized, so nothing breaks when the original links go dark.

New in v1.8 · Markdown export

Your lessons,
in your vault.

  • Clean Markdown, Obsidian preset. Every lesson exports as a plain .md file with YAML frontmatter - title, community, course, module, dates, source.
  • Attachments travel with the note. The lesson's downloads folder is copied next to the .md, so relative links keep working inside your vault.
  • Export one lesson or a whole selection. From the course tree or straight from the lesson you're reading - into Obsidian, Logseq, or any Markdown tool.

Straight answers

Questions before
you make the break.

How does the free trial work?

Download the app free - no card, no account with us. Log in to Skool through it and it will scan any community fully, so you see exactly what a backup would contain. You can back up 5 lessons per community on the trial; buying a license unlocks the rest, and everything already scanned picks up right where you left off.

Is this allowed?

Community Backup only archives content you already have legitimate access to as a logged-in member or owner. It's the same content you can see in your browser - it just saves a real, organized copy to your own machine instead of leaving it stranded on the platform. You're responsible for how you use what you back up, same as taking your own notes.

Will Skool know I used it?

The app browses your community much like you would, then saves what it loads. There's no public action, no posting, nothing announced to the community. It runs locally on your Mac and writes the archive straight to your drive.

What about my videos?

Real video files get downloaded to disk - course and lesson videos, plus YouTube embeds, at up to 1080p. No streaming links that break later. When the originals go away, your copies don't.

What does "1 active community" mean on Single?

The Single license keeps one community active for backup and refresh at a time - and you can switch that slot to a different community whenever you want. Archives you already made stay fully readable in the app either way. Want everything live at once? That's Unlimited.

What formats do I get?

Two layers: a native offline reader - the community rebuilt inside the app, browsable like the real thing - and, underneath, standard files on disk: videos as real video files, attachments as-is, plus Markdown export with YAML frontmatter for any lesson, ready for Obsidian or your next platform.

Is there a Windows version?

Windows is built and coming soon. Same app, same feature set as the Mac version - full backup, 1080p videos, offline reader, Obsidian export, scheduled backups, verify & repair. It's finished and tested; what's left is the paperwork every Windows app needs before it can be handed out (code signing) and the checkout. No date promised, but it isn't a "maybe some day". Leave your email and you'll get the download the day it goes live:
